Newhaven Art Projects is an artist led, not for profit organisation that promotes the visual arts and brings people together through Art. We seek to increase opportunity for everyone to have greater access to Art and education.
WELLBEING ART GROUP ….. We aim to provide regular, ongoing, free access to an art education for people within our community who have historically been excluded. This also addresses and benefits people’s mental health and their wellbeing. We are particularly grateful to the businesses of Newhaven Enterprise Zone and Sussex Community Foundation in helping us to do this.
CONTEMPORARY ART ….. Newhaven Art Space opened in September 2022, a gallery and project space bringing cultural activity and contemporary art to a High Street in area of deprivation in the heart of the town.
WORKSHOPS ….. Since 2018 we’ve provided art workshops, mostly for people disadvantaged through circumstance and who would not normally have access to Art education . We have also worked with partners to deliver free visual art events such as School Holiday Activity Fund schemes. Workshops are also run to help people take part in the Newhaven Open Call exhibitions. All images © Newhaven Art Projects
NEWHAVEN OPEN CALL ….. As artists working in Newhaven for over 10 years we decided in 2018 to create the first Newhaven Open Call to bring art communities and a wider public together. The first event took place in the building which is now ‘Marine Workshops’, we have since used empty shops and High Street premises to bring people together through art. Please join us for the 2024 NOC !
